Charge-only upgrade

This is a charge-only USB-C power upgrade. It does not add Bluetooth, AUX, CarPlay, Android Auto, or music streaming.

Power and wiring

This charger connects to a 12V power source, commonly the cigarette lighter wiring.

Power behaviour depends on how your vehicle is wired. If connected to an ignition-switched 12V source, it will only charge when that circuit is powered. If connected to a constant 12V source, it can charge a plugged-in device while the car is off.

The charger does not contain a battery and does not generate power. It only supplies power when the circuit it is wired to is live and a device is plugged in.

If you are unsure how your vehicle is wired, test the circuit before installation or have the charger installed by an auto electrician.

Installation

Basic E39 installation steps:

1. Disconnect the car battery.
2. Remove the centre console trim.
3. Place the supplied template in the ashtray cavity.
4. Carefully drill a 5 mm hole.
5. Locate the cigarette lighter wiring/connector.
6. Connect the charger wiring to a suitable 12V power source.
7. Use proper soldered or quality crimped connections.
8. Reinstall the trim and test the charger.

For the original E39 cigarette lighter wiring, red connects to positive and brown is ground. Always confirm wiring before connecting.

No. It requires 12V wiring. Installation is straightforward if you are comfortable with basic automotive wiring, but professional installation is recommended if you are unsure.

Will it charge while the car is off?

That depends on the 12V circuit used. If the circuit has power while the car is off, it can charge a plugged-in device while the car is off. If the circuit is ignition-switched, it will only charge when that circuit is powered.

Can it fast charge modern phones?

Yes. The charger supports USB-C Power Delivery up to 65W. Devices that support fast or super-fast charging will charge at their maximum supported speed when connected.

Does it look factory?

It is designed as an OEM+ interior upgrade rather than a universal charger sticking out of the cigarette lighter socket.
